About the Role
Insulite Glass CDL drivers are responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex transportation services while delivering fabricated flat glass products to customers of Insulite Glass Co., Inc in a safe and timely manner to the proper destination.
Requirements and Responsibilities
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver fabricated flat glass and other goods from fabrication facility to customer and jobsite
Plan route to ensure most economical use of time and equipment
Perform routine inspection of truck and deliver for preventive maintenance and/or repairs; clean truck
Perform all duties in conformance with the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standards
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Job Knowledge and Essential Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
Ability to safely drive various vehicles
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work independently
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
Ability to make independent judgments as a representative of the organization
Daily contact requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
Education and Experience
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, one (1) year relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
License/Certification
CDL A or CDL B (Required)
Tools and Equipment Used
Transportation vehicles, tractor trailer, straight truck, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, mobile radio, telephone, and hand tools used in the maintenance of vehicles.
